Font converters

Every conversion Refont can do, grouped by what happens to your font. All of them run in your browser, and the converter on any page accepts every format.

Repack, losslessly

These change only the container around the font. Outlines, hinting, kerning, features and variable axes come through untouched, and you can always convert back.

WOFF to WOFF2 and EOT to TTF work the same way on the homepage converter.

Rebuild the outlines

These redraw every glyph in the other outline format. Kerning and features are kept; hinting can't be carried across, and the report under each file says so.

PostScript Type 1 (PFB, PFA) to OTF or TTF is also available on the homepage converter. For Type 1, drop the matching AFM file too and its kerning is included.

Unpack collections

A TTC or OTC file holds several fonts in one, and a Mac dfont is a font family stored in an old Mac format. Refont splits them into separate TTF or OTF files, or straight into WOFF2 files, on the homepage converter.

Build a webfont kit

To subset fonts to the characters your site uses, compress a whole family to WOFF2 and get the @font-face CSS in one go, use the webfont generator.

Not supported

Refont doesn't create fonts from images or handwriting, convert bitmap fonts (BDF, PCF, FON), or unpack EOT files that use MicroType Express compression. It reads EOT but doesn't write EOT or SVG fonts: browsers stopped needing either years ago.
